Google Drive cloud storage service launches, 5GB free space for all
Google's worst kept secret in recent years is finally official -- Google Drive, the company's cloud storage service, has been announced. The service offers 5GB of storage for free, with paid storage also available offering up to 16TB of space. Being a Google service, much of the focus of Google Drive is on its web interface, available now at drive.google.com. Like cloud storage incumbents Dropbox, this provides users with a way to manage existing synced content (including Google Docs), as well as uploading new files and sharing between other Drive users.
There's also a fully-featured Android app, which replaces the old Google Docs app and offers the ability to upload content from Android phones directly to the cloud. And there's even a Google+ style camera upload feature to facilitate easy sharing of photos and videos. The app's available right now on the Google Play Store (and as an update if you've already got Docs installed), and we've got it linked after the break.
On the desktop side, Google Drive takes the form of a synchronization app, similar to Dropbox. Your Google Drive appears as a special folder on your computer, from which you can manage through your favorite file manager. Like Dropbox, the Drive desktop app integrates pretty seamlessly into Windows.
In the announcement on its official blog, Google focused on Drive's collaborative capabilities -- something Docs users will be familiar with -- as well as the ability to search more than just text in a document or spreadsheet. Drive apparently incorporates OCR (optical character recognition) in addition to image recognition, similar to Google Goggles and Google Image Search, meaning a photo of a particular landmark would be recognized as such.

You're one of the few professional gamers in the world and one of the more popular players in the world right now in all of professional gaming. When you first got into online gaming did you ever see this coming?
Dyrus:
No, I was just a hardcore gamer, never expected to be pro. I found league a lot easier to learn and be addicted to than other games and then I got invited to a gaming house to stream and now my career for that is jumpstarted.
FYA Umashi:
Do you enjoy the life of being a professional gamer? Did you have a dream job in mind ever or was professional gaming really a blessing?
Dyrus:
First I wanted to be a cop then I wanted to be something that involves computers then I decided something that involves video games because I've played at least 5 hours plus of video games everyday of my life for the last 17 years which is why I'm so lazy and use locked camera.
FYA Umashi:
Do you feel professional gaming is hard at all? Is it a lot of work? Or do you enjoy it so much it's not really work for you?
Dyrus:
Going to go with the theory that you never have to work a day in your life if you do what you love. My reasoning and passion for this game that involves me with the community so much is somewhat related.
FYA Umashi:
When TSM got their gaming house you moved in despite being a part of EG. When you moved in did it feel weird moving in with a bunch of other gamers and did it feel weird being with another team?
Dyrus:
No, I've known them for awhile especially Reginald and Reginald is Dan Dinh's brother so not really that weird; They're brothers and both team captains at the time easiest way for me to get good internet and venture off into the world, well not really venture but just sit in another cave with better internet.
FYA Umashi:
Being one of the most popular players means you're also a popular streamer. Your viewer count skyrocketed after joining TSM. Do you enjoy the popularity? You're basically a full grown celebrity now, is it exciting?
Dyrus:
I guess it motivates me a bit more but it's still the same to me. The biggest difference is people started to start their hate motions against me just because there are newer streamers like wings who offer better commentary and such at scarra level but I'm just lazy most of the time. I do what I do everyday, people who judge me can go fuck themselves.
I stream for those who want to watch if there's more viewers than usual then I'm doing something right whether it's the best I got or not also for that it also pressures me for the higher expectations when I joined TSM. The expectations doubled from when I was on EG this motivated me and excited me to be playing at a top level instead of screwing around in solo queue all day which caused me to be a better player because now I have a reason to try.
But once again as for streaming I just do what I always do and it does make people think that I've become more of a tool but half of them are flaked out fans who have higher expectations and expect me to be full blown out commentating, answering every question everyday.
Oh, so that's another part I was already getting spammed with questions and now it's just much more and people get mad when I don't answer so I need like a FAQ or a CEO or something eventually which is why I got peolo bear; But I don't bother him to much. My IRC has been recruiting mods I've never seen before, so I assume they're working fine on their own.
FYA Umashi:
Recently you won IPL4 and the entire time you carried a pillow around with you. You made it quite the entertaining joke. It makes you look like a happy guy, is this your way of really showing the community that you care even if you can't help them all?
Dyrus:
Well, this is my reasoning behind the pillow: 1. I started holding a pillow cause I bought one and I was cold, like the blanket but much easier to carry around. 2. I became attached to it because I'm a really stressed out person that grinds his teeth in his sleep. So when I play league and I get nervous during team fights the pillow helps.
When I first started league I would freak out without even knowing one day I was playing league in high school and my mom was watching and she noticed I had the scariest face. My mouth was opening and closing like a maniac without saying anything. So comfort zone for the pillow helped.
3. Some people find it funny I just like to make people laugh and entertain in that way which is why I was acting a little overboard at IPL4; Overexcited and got ahead of myself.
FYA Umashi:
You always seem like a really relaxed guy though. Is this because you've become a better player and learned to relax or are you still panicking on the inside a lot while keeping it cool on the outside?
Dyrus:
Depends how much sleep I get. Having music on relaxes me. Pillow, blanket, sitting in a certain position... when I play my leg is always up on another chair sideways, then during queues I got three chairs to sleep on so when I sit up properly I have to really concentrate cause I'm not comfortable.
FYA Umashi:
With both your streaming popularity and your team do you ever feel you need to balance your learning to get better at the game and your entertainment value or do you feel people really just want to see a good player and learn? I know your rants after games have become quite the popular thing.
Dyrus:
Nah, not really. People find the seriousness entertaining I guess they can see what it's like at a top level of play. Before I joined TSM I was jealous they scrimed all day. I wanted to play against good players and then I discovered wickd after playing wickd on TSM vs CLG.eu. My play got way better which prepared me for IPL4.
When I play against players I see making mistakes in lane I get impatient and lose my lane, unless I really want to win.
FYA Umashi:
On the subject of entertainment and improvement do you ever feel you want to do more for the community? Lots of people learn from your stream but do you ever wish you could do more?
Dyrus:
I did want to do replay reviews and then people told me they wanna see replay reviews of good players, to lazy to get those replays. If people like wickd sent me replays I could commentate on that and it would help people a lot. I leave the low elo replays to others aka upcoming streamers cause my stress level of watching them goes up.
I also wanted to do youtube video guides and more stuff but ever since I got more popular I suck at video editing and such. I was gonna ask other people but my organization skills suck.I might as well be streaming 24/7 instead of doing that. When it calms down a bit I'll probably do more videos and such.
I do like doing AMA's and I have a lot of helpful threads around the forums and my feeds this was when I first started now I feel a bit burned out but I still go look into the community to find conflict or answer questions. I have a hobby of just fucking with people. I used to be a HUGE rager, now it's a bit less.
hotshotGG said this and people took it as trashtalk, but it wasn't. But even so I do have good intentions for all of that.

Thank you for your time Dyrus. One last question, how do you feel the League of Legends competative community will thrive over the years and what will you do if it shuts down? How about being a cop?
Dyrus:
Anything with video games, I've given up on being a cop. Going to go into either youtube or become pro at another game, probably not starcraft. But it will thrive! it's hard to see it shut down at this point if it's getting bigger than starcraft. Big in korea, big everywhere. Not because it's the better game but because it's easier to understand, learn, and it hits all of the crowd basically; Starcraft is a bit more advanced. Easier for noob gamers to pick up which makes it bigger.

HTC EVO Design 4G coming to Boost Mobile 'end of this quarter'
Boost customers might soon be able to bite off another bit of Android, according to Pocket Now. It's reporting that the HTC Evo Design 4G will be landing on the prepay network before the end of this quarter. It was running Gingerbread when we first got our hands on it, but will apparently be landing with Ice Cream Sandwich squeezed into its 1.2GHz single-core configuration. It's been a while since a new smartphone was offered up to the Boost faithful, so when the EVO 4G turns up it should be king of the pile, though we're not sure if it'll be asking an equally regal ransom when it does so.

LG Spectrum software update docs live, look for an OTA 'soon'
Verizon has published the support documents for an upcoming LG Spectrum update, and going on the history of such matters, we expect an over-the-air update rather soon. It's not the Ice Cream Sandwich update many users are wanting, but it does address some issues and bring newer versions of the bundled applications along for the ride. The details:
- EAS password follows security policy, requiring an 8-digit password minimum.
- Application launch will not cause force close when the device is scanning for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Improved outline for multiple calendar view.
- Calendar reminders send notification at accurate time.
- Successfully sync Optimum Online accounts using POP3.
- Pinch zoom in Camera Preview mode to select zoom level.
- Sync and Connect email maximum count is 500 regardless of server settings.
- Browser launches immediately upon selection.
- Added ‘Select Search Engine’ option in browser settings.
- Google Search is now set as default search for a better user experience.
- Google GMS (Google Mobile Services) is upgraded to Gingerbread R9.
- Updated Google Play (v3.3.12) with enhanced user experiences.
